Day Fourteen

My family.

My family... how do I even start this. They are crazy, loving, annoying, always in your face, amazing group of rascals. People always ask us what our heritage is because we are a mixture of loud Greeks, I'll hurt you if you hurt my blood Italians, drink and eat like Germans and friendly like Canadians. We just tell people we are Navy, a breed of it's own.

The four of us have always been extremely close. We didn't grow up around the rest of our family so always depended on each other. The best times I have is the ones spent with them. Our family is together at least once a week. Jeff and I always say that we will move to Denver one day... my family said they will move with us. That would be fine with me.

They LOVE my husband. My daddy always says he now has the son he always wanted. My momma thinks he walks on water. Aj calls him her brother... like she introduces us as her brother and sister, then I have to explain no I didn't marry my brother. We have had some odd look come our way (thanks Aj).

My family is precious as gold!

Day Thirteen

Why and When did you start blogging?

I originally started blogging on my other blog, Simply Me in 2008. After 451 post and 54 followers I made a big change to start The Gable Family.

I was a Navy Brat growing up and made MANY friends that I still love to keep in contact with. The easiest way is through blogging. I also wanted to keep family up to date of what is going on with us. Then after blogging for a bit I realized the incredible people you meet. I love my blogging family. They pray for me when I need it, celebrate my joys with me and lift me up.

Day Twelve

What is your dream job.

When Jeff and I started dating in 2004 I was a senior in high school and he was a senior in college. We both new this is it... we have met our soul mate and we started to talk about what we wanted for the future. Jeff wanted to do something in marketing and wanted to be a big deal... he got it! For me I just knew I was meant to be a momma and wife making that my focus. Jeff was completely on board for me to be a SAHM. We both agreed I would work until we would have our first baby. That was such a wise move for us, we saved every penny that we made and was able to purchase our dream home.

Being a SAHM is a true joy and blessing. I believe that this time I have with Caleb is so precious, and the joy I have watching him grow everyday is everything I ever wanted. Yes, sacrifices are made for me to be able to stay home. I don't shop like I use to, we don't travel that much and our grocery bill had to be tightened down. But it is all worth it!

Jeff and I had a serious talk right before Caleb was born, what is my job details going to be. (Jeff works incredibly hard and long hours. When he gets home, I want nothing more than for him to relax and hang out with the little man!) My "job" includes...
Cleaning the house.
making dinner.
take care of the doctor appointments.
run any errands for Jeff.
take care of the budget.
and many more odd jobs (But I don't do the lawn. That is Jeff's pride and joy!)

I love my dream job!

Day Eleven

List 5 blogs you read on a regular basis.

My five favorite blogs are all girls that I could see being a good friend of mine. I adore reading about their families and what they are up to. I have been encouraged by all these girls when I struggled to get pregnant. They prayed for me and left the sweetest comments. They might not remember it, but it touched my heart! I have seen these gall get engaged, married and have babies. So very thankful I found their blogs!

Day Ten

Share a photo of something old

One of my favorite pieces of jewelry that I own is a ring that my mother gave me. It was her grandmothers ring and when she passed it went to my momma. This was the ring I wore at my wedding for something old. I had loved it so much that momma gave it to me.

I hope to one day have a daughter and pass the ring down to her!

Day Nine

Describe to your location

I live in a dream. My husband has bought us a house on the water. Every day I am blessed to look outside and see dolphins, manatees, jumping fish and sting rays. Our gorgeous home is in Sunny St. Petersburg Florida. Jeff and I always say... we live in a vacation. I think I might do a house tour, when we have finished decorating it.

Painting.
Making wreaths.
Just to name a few. When I craft, it clears my mind. It becomes a total stress reliever for me. Now that I have Caleb, crafting has been put on the back burner but hopefully someday soon I will be back into the swing of things.

Day Five

Something that you miss

This was suppose to post yesterday. I had it all ready to send from my phone and... it didn't.

My sweet friend Nicole

I met Nicole when our dad's were stationed in Mayport. The momma's quickly became best friends and we saw each other multiply times a week. Her daddy retired from the Navy and we lost contact for awhile, until the beautiful world of social media. We started talking on Facebook, then everyday with email. She quickly became one of my closes friends who knows more about me then anyone. I adore her! We have not seen each other in over 10 years, but every time we talk it is like we just saw each other. Our chats have not been as much lately now that we are both momma's but we will always be there for each other.

Day Three

Best Childhood Memory

Abby... the best dog I have ever seen. My favorite childhood memory was the day we got her.

For months my dad, sister and I had been begging my momma for a dog. She finally caved, did the research and we were off to go get the new family dog. We didn't have a name picked out but we new we were getting a girl golden retriever. The drive seamed like forever to go get her (about 45 minutes). When we arrived to the breeder so many puppies were around most males and only two girls left. We wanted the hyper one... a dog that could keep up with our family.

Later that night was movie night, and we picked a classic... Young Frankenstein! If you have seen the movie then you will know what scene I am talking about, if you have not seen this movie then shame on you. The part when Igor gets the wrong brain and says "Abby someone... yes, Abby Normal". We all looked at each other and said that is the name! It fit her perfectly.

So I guess this was more of a best day at the childhood memory.

Day Two

Today is 10 likes & 10 dislikes

Likes...
Cloth Diapers. My hubby actually was the one that approached cloth diapers and I was more hesitant (knowing that I was going be home all day with Caleb and cleaning them). But after some research, talking to quite a bit of momma's we agreed that YES we will cloth diaper. FuzzyBunz is the brand we use and LOVE them!

La Croix Water. I am a snob about sparkling water, drinking my weight in these things everyday.

Yankee Candles. Our family (me) has a candle burning everyday. I just love for my house to smell like the season.

Project Life. Becky Higgens has changed my style on scrapbooking which I am so thankful for. I love packing photos into a layout that doesn't take a long time to embellish. They now sell Project Life at Michaels... 40% off, yes please!

Simply Face Wash. I have ridiculously sensitive skin and have finally found a face wash that is gently enough on my skin, but still keeps it nice a clean.

Tervis Tumblers. This is all our entire family drinks out of. We have the mugs, water bottles, and cups of all sizes.

to do list. I feel so accomplished when I write down a to do list and cross things out when I finished something.

Dusting. Odd maybe, but I dust everyday. It is my zen time.

Fresh Flowers. Sam's Club has really good deals on flowers. Every other week we get one batch to have at our house.

Mark Makeup. It is the younger brand from Avon that has some amazing products.

Dislikes...
my nails not being painted. It is very rare that you will see me with out nail polish.

Toys in the living room. I understand Caleb wants to bring some of his toys out into the front room, but when he is in bed those toys go away. We are setting the guest room into his playroom.

lawn work. I am so thankful that my hubby doesn't mind doing the lawn, because I can't stand it.

Humidity... I live in Florida, you'd think I would be ok with it but no I am not

No Disney for us... The hubby wont let us take Caleb to Disney until he 5. I would love to take him when he is a little over two.

Scary Movies. Can't do them at all.

jeans. I think they are uncomfortable. Never wear them.

Peas. they smell horrible, taste disgusting... I am getting oozy just thinking about them!

Dangle Earrings. I don't think they look right on me. Plain and simple studs what I like.

Not being on Time. Grew up military brat and my family is all about being on time. My hubby's family is the opposite. We call it Gable Time and it drive me crazy.

Day One

Day One... What is your middle name and do you like it?

My middle name is Leigh and I LOVE it. My parents gave me the same middle name as my grandma. This special lady and I have so much in common. We have the same three birthmarks (not one... three!) and are the crafty ones in our crazy family. She teaches line dancing at a local country western bar, travels more then anyone I have ever met and just loves life. I feel blessed to have her middle name, hoping to one day give it to my future daughter.

The name Leigh means Field... interesting, I was hoping for it to mean Coolest Person Ever. Way off!
